Participants compete for the National Championship (overall victory), the Junior Championship (drivers up to 25 years old), and the Super Star title (drivers aged 40 and up).

V8 Thunder Cars has been thrilling audiences with Sweden’s most exciting racing since 1975, when the series began as the Super Star Cup. A large grid of twenty or more cars, each with a 475-horsepower V8 under the hood, and rules designed to ensure that money doesn’t decide the winner promise intense and close battles out on the track.
V8 Thunder Cars blends elite and grassroots racing like no other class in Sweden. The racing is top-notch, while the paddock remains open and welcoming to fans – a cup of coffee with your favorite driver is never far away.
In 2025, the V8 Thunder Cars national championship will include five rounds at Sweden’s top racetracks:
May 9–10: Anderstorp (three heats)*
July 11–13: West Coast Race, Falkenberg (three heats)
August 15–16: Kanonloppet, Karlskoga*
September 19–20: Grande Finale, Mantorp Park*
*Held together with the Porsche Carrera Cup Scandinavia
Participants compete for the National Championship (overall victory), the Junior Championship (drivers up to 25 years old), and the Super Star title (drivers aged 40 and up).

The 475-horsepower engines in V8 Thunder Cars run on alkylate petrol from Aspen—Aspen Plus 20% Renewable—a new fuel developed specifically for the class for this season. The fuel is virtually free from benzene, toluene, sulfur, and other aromatics, and contains 20 percent renewable components.
The class’s tire supplier, Yokohama, has for many years been at the forefront of developing environmentally friendly tire production. Instead of petroleum-based softeners, the tires use orange oil.

It’s on the track where the action happens, and it’s where the audience gets that true experience that can never be replicated in front of a screen. We work to connect the digital experience with the real one – we do this by involving the audience in award ceremonies and by creating an online presence that sparks a craving for the real-life experience.
The heat's sponsor selects the driver who has delivered the best performance, regardless of placement. The driver is then featured alongside the sponsor on Facebook, etc. The heat's sponsor is also exposed on the results page of the website, in TV graphics, and more.

V8 Thunder Cars works to close the gap between participants and the audience. That’s why the class has its own podium area in the paddock, where the audience can share the joy and disappointment with their favorite drivers. The podium backdrop showcases our sponsors and is visible in all photos from the award ceremonies.
Hospitality in the paddock, open to participants, sponsors, and partners – slip in for a cup of coffee, watch the production of the TV studio segments, and feel like you're at the heart of the action.
